Nineteen of the Russian's 21 victories have been won on hard surfaces

A revitalized the Russian player secured his first title for nearly 30 months with victory over Frenchman Moutet in the tournament title decider.

The athlete, a former world number one, has experienced a challenging period, achieving just one match at the major tournaments and suffering a setback at the New York tournament.

The player's varied form on the ATP Tour - and struggles with his service game in particular - led to him dropping out of the elite rankings and ultimately parting ways with long-time mentor Gilles Cervara.

Now training with his coach and Rohan Goetzke, he has consistently progressed in the recent weeks - culminating in a tightly fought competitive victory over opponent Corentin Moutet.

This marks Medvedev's first championship since the Italian tournament and maiden on a hardcourt since March of that year.

Success also indicates the Russian has won 21 titles at twenty-one different events.

"This marks the first occasion I have attended a tournament with my children at once, so to win a title is really nice," stated ranked player the champion.

"This victory is in tribute of my child my daughter, because the maiden victory I achieved when my older daughter her name was born was for her."

Medvedev, the former major winner, had failed in his last six championship matches, featuring in the German tournament previously this season.

The player's defensive approach and regular emotional displays on court had led some to question if his skill to perform at the top level was concluded.

But the player has altered his approach in recent weeks, making an effort to approach the net and compete aggressively, supported by an enhanced serving game.

He recovered from a disadvantage in the first set against the tricky Moutet, winning four of the last five games to gain the advantage.

Both players swapped breaks in the second set before the Frenchman, bidding for his first professional victory, took control to push for a decider.

Moutet defended 4 early break points in a competitive deciding set before Medvedev broke to 15 to serve for the match.

Fittingly, Medvedev clinched the win with a point at the net, with his opponent failing to control a volley after two hours and 38 minutes.
